							<description>Highlights from the Area Round of the State Playoffs.

New Deal 13 		Knox City 6
Todd Korchenko got the win and the Lions erupted for 9 runs in the 4th and 5th innings to break a 4-4 tie to earn the win. Leading hitters were Brock Burton (2-4), Casey Bingham (2-4), Jason Ybarra (2-3), and Blake Nelson (2-4; 2-2B).

Dripping Springs 15-9	Pflugerville Connally 3-8
Senior Stephen Szkotak (10-3) allowed only 5-hits and recorded 6-K to earn the win in game 1.  Junior DH Mark Mahany was 3-4 with 3-2B and 3-RBI to lead the Tigers 10-hit offensive attack. In game 2, junior Will Currier (6-0) held the Cougars to one hit through 5 innings as the Tigers built a 7-1 lead. Pflugerville rallied for 7 runs to take an 8-7 lead in the sixth. Trey Mick came in to end the inning striking out two. The Tigers scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 6th on a 2 out single by Sr. Lamar Milstead to score Bobby Hawley and Nick Isbell to retake the lead 9-8. Stephen Szkotak pitched 7th inning for the Tigers recording 2-K and collecting his 3rd save of the season.

CC Moody 3-4	SA Churchill 3-2
Luis Flores struck out 11 to earn his 9th win of the season. Jason Rodriguez tossed a three-hitter to improve to 9-1 and win game 2.

Thorndale 11-8		Menard 1-1
Jeff Kiesling (3-IP; 1-H; 4-K) and Ryan Lindermann (2-IP; 2-H) combined to win game one. Wade Gilchrist struck out 13 in getting the win in game two. Leading hitters for the series were Wade Gilchrist (5-7; 3-RBI; 1-2B; 3-SB; 3-R), Ryan Lindemann (3-4; 1-2B, 4-R; 3-W), Colby Hilton (2-4; 1-2B; 2-R), Chris Gerren (3-7; 4-RBI; 2-R), and Kalen Revia (2-4; 2-RBI).  

Lindale 9-2-8		Pleasant Grove 0-2-0
Lindale defeated Pleasant Grove in a 3 game series to win the Area Championship.  Carson Middleton threw a complete game shutout on Thursday and came back on Saturday with another complete game shutout. Middleton had 23-K and 2-BB in 2 games while allowing 6 hits in 14 innings.  Lindale's bats were led by freshman Mitch Baker who had 4-2B and 7-RBI in game 1. On Saturday freshman Justin Valdez was 2-3 and Brook Johnson was 3-3 to lead the Eagles 11-hit attack.

Brock Lemire, Ryan Brauninger and Chris Laird each had two hits to lead Nederland to a win in game 1.

Kilgore 4 	Port Neches-Groves 1
Casey Whitmire hit a 3-run HR in the fourth to lead Kilgore in game 1. Whitmire had seven strikeouts and got some fancy relief help from Pat McCrory who struck out 5 in two innings of work.

Naaman Forest 4 - 7 	W.T. White 1 - 5
Ryan Bates hit a 2-R HR and Billy Jarka had a 3-R 2B to lead Naaman Forest. Brandon Johnson had 14-K to get the win. C.J. Giroux had a 3-R HR in the seventh to make the game close. Joey Castleman struckout 12 and allowed only four hits in a 4-1 Naaman Forest game 1 win. Castleman also had 3-H.

Rowlett 6	Jesuit 2
Sean Rollins retired 14 straight batters after allowing 2 runs to help Rowlett advance.

Coppell 3	Arlington Martin 2
Daniel Raudabaugh had 7-K in 6-innings to force a game 3. Anthony Walsh got the win pitching seventh. Trey Watten and Jonathan Kaskow each had RBI singles in the fifth to lead Coppell. Martin won the first contest 12-5 on Shaun Garcias 2-H and 4-RBI.

Lake Dallas 4	Highland Park 1
Trevor Harden scattered five hits and struck out six in leading Lake Dallas to a victory. Austin Chambers and Chase Baine each had RBI singles in the sixth inning to seal the win.

Hebron 8	Paris 5
Rusty McGee hit a 3-R HR in the bottom of the 8th to lead Hebron past Paris. Sam Freeman tossed a complete game for the win. Freeman also reached base in all five plate appearances.

Red Oak 5	 Midlothian 3: 
Chad McLin earned the win with a complete-game effort, giving up eight hits and striking out two. Adam De La Garza and Andrew Ford each went 2-3 to lead Red Oak. Richard Plaskett had a HR for Midlothian to lead off the sixth.

Flower Mound 3 - 7	Southlake Carroll 5 - 0
Flower Bound bounced from a game one loss to Southlake Carroll to force a third game. Senior Jordan Meaker had a second-inning HR to lead the scoring. Craig Italiano tossed a three-hitter to get the win. Aaron Luna ended the opener with a 3-R HR to lead Southlake Carroll to a 5-3 win. 

South Garland 5 	Lake Highlands 3 (Game 2)
Senior Jeremy Barnes earned the win for South Garland (31-3-1) by pitching a complete game, scattering five hits and walking two. Barnes and Zac Thompson combined with classmates Seth Plumlee and Tyler English to go 9-for-14 with five RBIs. Lake Highlands Fielding Pittman had an RBI 2B in the 5th to tie the score.

Forney 13 	Hillcrest 3
Chase Lankford tossed a 3-hitter and struck out 13 in a Forney win. Jason Beene and Michael Hallam led Forney with 3-H each.

Waco Midway 9	Ennis 0
Brandon Riley allowed only four hits while teammate Tim Hartland was perfect at the plate with four hits to lead Midway.

Hebron 9 	Paris 6
Justin Pitrucha (3-4, 2-RBI) led the hitting and also struck out 9 to earn the win and lead Hebron. 

Allen 7 	Hurst Bell 1
Jake Wortham and Preston Paramore each had 3-RBI and Shawn Tolleson pitched a 4-hitter to lead Allen past Bell.

Rowlett 1 	Jesuit 0
Kyle Hancock struck out 12 in a pitchers duel with Michael Wild and tossed a three-hit shutout as Rowlett won Game 1. Eric Hill scored the only run from second on an infield hit and a Jesuit error.

Rockwall 9	Carrollton Newman Smith 0
Roger Kieschnick had a solo HR and triple to lead Rockwall. Dustin Schneider (2-3; 3-RBI) and Graham Martin (2-2; 2B; 3-R) also led the offense. Derek VerHagan got the win allowing 3-hits and struck out five.

Arlington Pantego 5	Waco Reicher 4
Chris Pough gave up 3-R in the first but settled down to earn the win and lead Patego to the championship game in the TAPPS Class 4A state tournament.

Arlington St. Albans 11	Dallas Lighthouse 5
Michael Talbott held Dallas Lighthouse to six hits and struck out eight over five innings to lead Arlington St. Albans in the Class A TAPPS semi-final game.

Watauga Harvest Christian 1	Bullard Brook Hill 0
T. D. Huett scored the game's only run on an error in the fifth to give Watauga Harvest Christian the TAPPS Class 3A semifinals win.
Huntsville Alpha Omega 16	Frisco Legacy 1
Alpha Omega collected 11 hits to defeat Frisco Legacy in the TAPPS Class A semifinals. Casey Ellis paced the Alpha Omega offense with two doubles.

The Woodlands 15	Austin Bowie 0
Kyle Drabek struck out 12 and went 4-5 with a 2-run HR to lead The Woodlands. Drabek allowed only three hits to earn the win. Senior Taylor Davis (3-4; 2-RBI; 3-R), Bryce Ary (4-4; 2B; 3-RBI) and Paul Goldschmidt (3-RBI; 2-H) added tot he offense. 

Klein Collins 5	Cedar Park 1
Cory Williams allowed only four hits in a complete game 1 win.
 
Westside 7	Clear Creek 1
Curt Nance and Brian Kovar each drove in a pair of runs during the seven-run sixth to get the first game win. Taylor Wall allowed five hits in the complete game win. Sach Cohen had three hits for Westside.

Lubbock Cooper 12	Seminole 2
Jakob Cunningham and Hudson Hlavaty each went 3-4 with 2-RBI to get the first game win. Bradley Madison, Shawn Stults and Clint Blume also added two hits apiece. Howell Finch (5-2) picked up the win for the Pirates, allowing one earned run and six hits while striking out eight. Sophomore Michael Martinez had a double for Seminole's only extra-base hit. 							<title>Bi-District Highlights</title>
							<description>Bi-District Playoffs

Beaumont West Brook advanced in slugfest with a 12-9 win over Lamar by pounding 13 hits including HR by Pat Ford, James Ewing, and Michael Ewing. 

David Gardner had four hits in five at bats to lead West Orange-Stark past Splendora 6-5 in 11 innings. Benny Smith and Ryan Crouch also had big hits for the Mustangs.

Little Cypress- Mauriceville won game one by defeating Galena Park 12-0. Clayton Ehlert got the win striking out 10 and allowing only two hits. Adam Jaynes had three run HR to lead the offensive attack.

South Garlands Bobby Pritchett tossed a 3-hitter to earn the 12-0 win against Tyler Lee in game 1. Jeramy Barnes and Zack Thompson led the offensive attack. In the second game win, HRs by Barnes, Thompson, Andrew Denson and a grand slam by Jarod Ray led the Colonels to a sweep over Lee 12-2.

Casey Bingham and Todd Korchenko combined to throw a 3-hitter and lead New Deal to a 11-1 win over Floydada. John Ward had a big hit in the second inning to score Cory Jones who had reached base on a BB. The Lions erupted for 7-runs in the 4th to take control of the game. Brock Burton and Bingham singled to start the inning and later scored on Jason Ybarras single. Ward tripled to clear the bases after Tony Mora walked. Korchenko struck out 6 in the final four innings to secure the win.

Bryant Sparkman tossed a 1-0 shutout to lead Smithson Valley over SA Southwest. Truxton Fox (2-3) got the game winning hit with two outs in the seventh scoring Carly Thompson. Clay Fuller (2-3), Joe Pawelek (2B), and Jonathan Rosfeld had hits for the Rangers.

Junction defeated Alpine in two games 6-5(9) and 6-1 to advance. In game 1, Weston Neiman tossed the complete game striking out 15. Neiman helped his cause by going 2-5 with a double and 2-RBI. Patrick Turner (3-6, 2B, 2-RBI), Kyle Hull (3-5), and Ryan Robinson (2-5, RBI) led the offense. In game 2, Brian Gonzales threw a complete game and had a triple. Neiman (2-4, 2B, 3-RBI) and Kyle Konz (1-3, 1-RBI) were leading hitters for Junction.

							<title>Week 10 Highlights</title>
							<description>The regular season ends with exciting action. Enjoy the highlights from the last week of regular season play.

Bryant Sparkman tossed a complete game five-hitter and helped himself with a 2-2, 3-RBI day at the plate to lead Smithson Valley past SA Madison. 

Logan Bawcom, David Hill, A.J. McColloch, and Colton Wilber each had two hits to lead Greenwood past Presidio 5-3. Bawcom pitched the complete game allowing five hits.

Carson Middleton struck out 15 and allowed only three hits in a 7-1 Lindale win over Van. Ryan Merrell had three hits including 2-2B while Jacob Cates added two hits.
Stephen Szkotak tossed a 4-hit, 4 strikeout, shutout to lead Dripping Springs to 10-0 win over Lake Travis. Will Currier (3-R HR), Daryl Lehman (2-R HR), and Szkotak (2-R HR) led the offense. Trevor Coleman and Travis Mosty added RBI with sac flies in the 6th. Key defensive plays by Nick Isabell (Jr., 3B), Travis Charlton (Jr., SS), Bobby Hawley (Sr., 2B), Lamar Milstead (Sr., OF), and Sean Simmons (Soph., OF) helped preserve the shutout.

Loveladys Anthony Howard went 1-3 with 5-RBI to lead the comeback win over Grapeland 11-10. Richard Gunnels pitches a perfect 6th and 7th to close the game.

Moodys Luis Flores tossed a 3-hitter (did not allow a run until the 6th) to get the 2-1 win over Carroll. Jason Rodriguez struck out 10 in 5-innings and Danny Grande struck out 4 in the final two innings in 7-1 Moody win over King. Grande came back and struck out 7 in four innings to lead Moody past Miller 10-0. Andrew Garcia pitched the fifth striking out the side.

Danbury completed their district season this week by winning both games. On Tuesday, Danbury defeated Brazos 16-6. Randy Smith hit a 3-run homer in the first, and Bradley Bulanek added a solo shot in the 3rd. Danbury used a 5 run first inning and 9 run second inning to put the game away early. Jose Mendez, Wally Kelm, Corey Lukasheay, and Brian Williamson all had 2 hits. Bradley Bulanek picked up the win for his 5th of year. On Friday, the Panthers hosted East Bernard with a chance to win the district championship, and the Panthers came through with a 6-1 victory. Randy Smith tossed a 2-hitter and struck out 12 (giving up a solo homer to Matthew King in the 4th as the only Brahma tally in the game). Bradley Bulanek's long 2-run homer with two outs in the 5th broke open a 3-1 game. Brad had smashed an opposite field double in the first to help the Panthers get 2 early runs as well. The game was played in a playoff atmosphere and both squads played well. 

New Deal defeated Bovina 10-0 in 5 innings behind the pitching of Casey Bigham.  Bigham hurled all 5 innings allowing only 1 hit and striking out 11 Bovina hitters. The sole Bovine hit came in the bottom of the 4th with one out as Trent Quintana hit a 1-2 pitch to right field. The next hitter hit into a 1-6 FC for the second out and Bigham struck out the final batter of the inning to help preserve his shut out. Bovina pitching silenced the New Deal hitters the first 3 innings only allowing 2 runs on 2 hits. The Lions then exploded in the top of the 4th scoring 8 times to push the score to 10-0. Todd Korchenko led the Lions with 2 doubles followed by Tony Mora and Jason Ybarra. Mora was 2-3 with 2 singles while Ybarra reached base all 3 times with a single and 2 walks.

Thorndale defeated Thrall 9-4 scoring 8 runs in the bottom of the 6th.  Ryan Lindemann pitched well in relief striking out 5 and allowing one hit in 4+ innings of work. Lindemann also was 2-2 with a 2B and a RBI. Miles Grisham and Chris Gerren got hits to tie the game in the 6th at 4. Jeff Kiesling then hit a triple to RF with the bases loaded to spread the lead.  A hit by Wade Gilchrist and a double by Ryan Lindemann scored two more to provide too much for the Tigers. Austin Falke was also 2 for 2 with a run scored and a RBI.

							<title>Week 9 Highlights</title>
							<description>It appears the TAKS test was the highlight of the week. We had little response to the site this week. District races will be completed this week and the playoffs begin. Interest in high school baseball will pick up this week. Good luck to all teams this week.

The Dripping Springs Tigers scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning to cap a come from behind 5-4 win over New Braunfels.  The Unicorns(14-11, 3-6) had built a 4-2 lead over the Tigers over the first six innings.  Stephen Szkotak(8-2) got the win in relief of starter Will Currier who pitched 6 solid innings for the Tigers.  Soph. DH Ryan Bonner lead off the bottom of the 7th with a base on balls, Soph. Sean Simmons was inserted to pinch run.  Jr. Nick Isbell followed with a hit to put runners at 1st and 2nd with no outs.  Lamar Milstead laid down a sacrifice bunt that was misplayed and Simmons and Isbell score to tie the game at 4 all.  Milstead advanced to 3rd base on the throwing error.  Sr. OF Daryl Lehman then takes a 1-1 pitch to left field to plate Milstead with the game winning run.  The Tigers are now 19-6-1 on the season and 7-2 in District 27-4A.

Luis Flores improved to 7-0 for the season leading CC Moody to a 2-1 win over Carroll. Kyle Thebeau pitched well for Carroll.      

Danbury defeated Boling 18-4 on Tuesday night. Michael Peltier was 3-4 with 4 RBI, and Randy Smith, Brian Williamson, and Bradley Bulanek each had 3-RBI in the win.  Bulanek picked up the win by going 4 innings and striking out 10. Bulanek also hit his 5th HR of the season.

Merced Muniz (2-4; 4-R) and Don Miller (2-3; 2-R; 1-2B) helped the Alpine offense in 9-8 loss to Kermit.

New Deal defeated Hale Center 7-4. Trailing 4-1 in the bottom of the 4th with 2 outs and the bases loaded John Ward hit the first offering from Hale Center pitcher over the left-center field fence for a grand slam and the first Lion lead of the night 5-4. Ward also led off the bottom of the 6th with a solo shot over the left field fence increasing New Deals lead to 6-4. Brock Burton scored later on a sac fly by Todd Korchenko for the final run of the ball game for the Lions. Brock Burton started on the hill for the Lions and completed six innings for his 3rd District win this season. Burton gave up four hits while striking out 12. Korchenko closed out the 7th and was credited with his second save of the year.   Offensively John Ward was 3 for 4 with 2 HR, Brock Burton was 1 for 3, while Jason Ybarra also had a solo shot for his 5th HR of the year.

Corpus Christi Moody improved to 22-2-1 with a win over Ray, 4-1. Luis Flores scattered five hits. In a second win this week, Jason Rodriguez tossed a two-hitter and struck out eight. Robert Robles had 5-RBI with a 2B and HR.

Joseph Wilson tosses a no-hitter and strikes out 13 in a 13-0 Franklin win over Hearne. Andrew Schneider strikes out 20 while allowing one hit in an 8-2 Franklin over Centerville. Franklin pitchers have thrown six no-hitters and 2 perfect games this season. 

Lufkin Hudson defeated Palestine 10-0 behind the pitching of Wesley Musick. Musick struck out 17 and allowed only two hits.

Merced Muniz tossed a no-no in a 14-0 Alpine win over Tornillo. Muniz struck out nine and walked two. Alpine was led by Don Miller (2-3, 2-R, 2-RBI, 1-3B), Jason Miller (2-2, 1-RBI, 1-2B), Aaron Hearon (2-3, 3-RBI, 1-2B, 1-HR), John Carlos Torres (2-3, 1-HR), and Gilbert Lujan (2-2, 2-RBI).

Alex Calderon struck out nine and allowed only one unearned run in a 7-1 Presidio win over Monahans.

Dripping Springs won two big district games this week. Junior Will Currier (5-0-1) got the 10-5 win over Burnet in a complete game allowing 6 hits and recording 8-K.  Junior catcher, Trevor Coleman, hit a 3-run HR in the first to cap a 6-R effort. Senior OF Lamar Milstead hit a 2-run HR in the 5th inning. On Friday, the Tigers defeated NB Canyon to take the lead in 27-4A. The Tigers scored in the bottom of the 1st on a Daryl Lehman double, a sacrifice bunt by sophomore OF Sean Simmons, and a single by Stephen Szkotak. The Tigers added 3-R in the 3rd inning on RBI hits by senior 2B Bobby Hawley and Trevor Coleman. The Tigers scored two more in the 4th on back-to-back RBI hits by Szkotak and junior Will Currier. Szkotak (7-2) got the complete game win striking out nine and scattering 5 hits. In a non-district game, Trey Mick struck out 12 in a complete win over Bandera. Will Currier had 2-HR while senior Lamar Milstead had a solo shot.  

Danbury improved to 18-2 with two come from behind wins this week. On Tuesday, the Panthers overcame a 6-1 4th inning deficit to defeat Hitchcock 7-6 in district play. Brad Bulanek smacked his 4th HR of the year to get the comeback started. Brian Williamson had 2 two-out RBI singles to lead the Panthers. Randy Smith came on in relief of Bradley Bulanek to pick up his ninth win of the year. On Friday, Danbury scratched out an 8-7 win over a tough Abundant Life Christian team (they were 7-1 coming in to the game).  Randy Smith had a 3-R HR and a perfectly executed squeeze bunt to lead the hitting. Senior Paul Wendel notched his first win of his career as Danbury used five pitchers in the contest. Jose Mendez had a big triple to lead off the bottom of the 6th with the Panthers trailing 6-5 to get Danbury's three run rally started.

Thorndale improved to 20-3 (8-0) this week behind the arms of Kevin Zuelke (5-IP, 0-ER, 5-K, 1-W), Wade Gilchrist (2-IP, 5-K, 0-ER), Jeffrey Kiesling (4-IP, 0-ER, 7-K, 1-W, 2-H), and Ryan Lindemann (1-IP, 0-ER, 2-K) and a stout defensive effort. Thorndale defeated Holland on Tuesday 7-0, and Bartlett 11-0 on Friday. Zuelke (3-1) picked up the win against Holland and Gilchrist came on to get the save, while Kiesling improved to 6-0 with the win over Bartlett and Lindemann picked up his 3rd save. Leading hitters for the week were Ross Towery (5-8, 4-R, 3-SB, 5-RBI, 1-HR), Ryan Lindemann (4-7, 3-RBI, 3-R, 2-2B), and Jacob Loftin (3-5, 2-R, 2-2B, 4-RBI, 3-SB).

Junction defeated Eldorado 4-0 behind the complete game shutout of Weston Neiman. Neiman only allowed one hit and struck out seven. Junction also had a win over Big Lake 8-7 behind the hitting of Patrick Turner (1-4; 1-HR; 1-RBI), Neiman (1-2; 1-HR; 3-RBI), Kyle Hull (1-2; 1-2B; 1-RBI), and Kyle Konz (2-4; 1-2B; 2-RBI).
 
Hunter Beherns gave Boerne a big lift this week going 4-6 with 6 RBIs. Behrens had 1-HR. 2-2B and a 3B in the 2 wins. Russell Moldenhauer and Mason Boerner added HRs this week. 

Lindale defeated Brownsboro 8-2. Jacob Cates (2-4) and the freshman combo of Justin Valdez (HR) and Mitch Bullard. Breet Holland got the win gong the distance striking out five and allowing only three hits.
 
Dawson wins District 18-1A with a Tuesday win over Bremond 4-2, and a Friday win over Wortham 5-4. Mark Kelley picked up the win in both games. Brandon Hubik hit a 6th inning 2-R HR to aid in the win over Wortham.

Kody Hinze had two HR and 3-RBI in an Aldine Nimitz win over Aldine High.

Warren defeated Corrigan-Camden 6-5 behind the pitching of Jerred Wallace and Andrew Flores. Offensive standouts were SS Jay Reese (3-4; 3-R; 2-RBI; 2-SB) and Flores (3-4; HR; 3-RBI; game winning single in the 7th).

Alpine lost to a very good Midland Trinity team 13-3. Merced Muniz (2-3;1-SB), Abel Losoya (1-2; 1-R), and Aaron Hearon (1-3; 1-RBI; 1-3B) led the offense. Alpine defeated Anthony on Friday 18-6. Don Miller was the winning pitcher (4-IP, 5-K). Sophomore Chris Navarrette came on to pitch the last inning. Leading hitters were Merced Muniz (2-5; 2-R), Miller (2-3; 2-R), Abel Losoya (2-3; 2-3B), and Jason Miller (2-4; 1-2B). 

Danbury got a huge win at East Bernard this week, winning 11-4. Bradley Bulanek got the start and loaded the bases on walks to begin both the first and second innings before striking out the side to get out of trouble in both innings. Bulanek also came up big at the plate, going 3-4 with 5 RBI and a bases clearing double. Randy Smith came in to relieve the 3rd to finish the game and pick up the win. On Friday, Danbury defeated Royal 11-7. Danbury jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the 2nd, but the Royals Jacob Cardiff slammed a 3-run homer in the bottom of the 2nd to give Royal a 5-4 lead. The Panthers chipped away and got clutch hits from Paul Wendel, Brian Williamson, Michael Peltier, and Corey Lukasheay to get the lead back. Bradley Bulanek pitched the last three innings, striking out seven and allowing no-hits to get the save.

The Dripping Springs Tigers completed the 1st round of District 27-4A with a 10-1 win over Lake Travis and began the 2nd round with a 3-0 win over Marble Falls(1-5) this week. Junior Will Currier (4-0-1) pitched 4 complete innings allowing only one unearned run to Lake Travis before the game was suspended due to rain and lightning. On Wednesday, the game was continued with senior Stephen Szkotak (5-2) pitched 3 shutout innings to get the save for the Tigers.  Will Currier was 2-3 with a triple, a double, and 5-RBI to lead the Tigers. Senior Bobby Hawley and junior Nick Isbell had 2-RBI games for the Tigers. On Friday, Stephen Szkotak (6-2) pitched a complete game shutout. Szkotak pitched 10 complete innings in three days allowing no runs and 10-K getting a save and a win. Currier had a 2-RBI double to score Daryl Lehman and Jason Moore with the winning runs. Bobby Hawley would give the Tigers a little breathing room in the 2nd inning with a single, a stolen base, moved to 3rd on Lamar Milstead's ground out to the right side. Hawley then scored on a wild pitch. The Tigers turned a 1-6-3 doulbeplay in the 5th to end a Lake Travis threat. 
  

Amarillo High started the week with a 12-8 extra inning win over Lubbock Monterey. Junior Will Gowdy got the win in relief. The Sandies beat Lubbock High 19-2 before beating cross-town rival Amarillo Tascosa 9-5. In the Tascosa game, sophomore Andrew Cox hit his second bases loaded triple of the year and plated another run to account for 4 of Tascosa's 5 runs. Cox now has 19 RBI. Sandie offensive stars Curtis Gibson, Nathan Love, and Josh Long also had a triple. Sandie 3B, Michael Ritchie picked up his 20th steal. Gowdy got another win in relief. 

Thorndale improved to 19-3, 6-0 this week with wins over Milano 9-1 and Granger 11-1, behind Jeffrey Kiesling (5-0) and Ryan Lindemann (3-1). Jeffrey Kiesling struck out 11 while allowing only 2-H in the win over Milano. Wade Gilchrist (3-4; 3-RBI; 2-SB), Kalen Revia (2-2, 2-RBI), and Ryan Lindemann (2-3, 1-RBI, 2-R) carried the load for the Dogs on the offensive end. Ryan Lindemann allowed 3-H and fanned eight in a five-inning victory over the Granger Lions. Ross Towery (3-3, 2-RBI; 2-SB), Kiesling (3-4; 2-RBI; 3-R), and Gilchrist (2-3, 2-RBI; 2-SB) led the offensive charge.

Junction defeated Big Lake 12-10 behind the hitting of senior Kyle Hull (3-4; 3-RBI; 1-R), junior Weston Neiman (2-4; 3-RBI; 2-R; 2-SB; 1-2B), and sophomore Mike Jetton (2-3; 1-RBI; 2-R).
 
Lindales Carson Middleton pitched a complete game shutout on Friday against Chapel Hill, striking out 12 and allowing only 2-H. Lindale also defeated Van 8-3 on Tuesday. Middleton had 3 home runs in the two games played and finished the both games 6 for 6.

Presidio defeated Monahans 7-1 behind the pitching of Alex Calderon who went the distance. Calderon struck out nine and did not allow an earned run.

							<title>Week 6 Highlights</title>
							<description>The weather in Central Texas indicates that maybe spring is finally here as temperatures warm a little. Baseball action across the state is certainly heating up. More highlights are coming in and it will only get better. Be sure to check out the top hitters and pitchers that reported stats this. That list will grow as more get involved. One more thing  you need to get your copy of the preview magazine if you have not already. What a great keepsake for a high school player. Check this site for information on how to order. 

Highlights for baseball action through April 2:

Jonathon Jimenez (Weslaco East) pitched a one-hitter to beat undefeated Mission, 11-0.  Jimenez is 2-1 in district for the Wildcats, pitching a nine-inning complete game against PSJA Memorial and taking a no-hitter into the 7th against Mercedes.  Jimenez is just a sophomore.

Alpine defeated Kermit on a windy Tuesday night 10-5.  Don Miller pitched 6 strong innings allowing four runs on six hits striking out 12 Yellow Jackets. Merced Muniz (2-3; 3-R), Jason Miller (2-4; 4-RBI; 1-2B), and Miller (2-4) led the offense.

Lindale defeated Canton 2-0 in a big time pitchers duel. Carson Middleton had 13 strike outs for Lindale while Steve Smith had 17 for Canton.

Jesus Mendoza struck out 11 in a 13-3 Houston Reagan win over Davis.

Alex Calderon and Armando Dominguez both homered in a 4-2 Presidio win over Pecos.

New Braunfels Canyon outlasted Marble Falls 11-6 behind a complete game six-hitter, five-strikeout performance by Jerris Springfield. Freshman J.P. Ramirez (3-4), Michael Tabler (2-5), Cody Covington (2-4), and Cameron Henk (2-5) led the Cougar offensive attack.

Ryan McGinley struck out eight and allowed only five hits in 3-1 New Braunfels loss to Dripping Springs. Evan Weese (2-3; 2B) and Jeremy Erben (1-3; RBI) led the Unicorns.

Reagan Moczygemba went 4-4 and scored four runs in a 7-0 Smithson Valley win over SA Madison. Kendal Volz struck out eight and allowed 3-hits for the Ranger win. Clay Fuller (2-3) and Jonathan Rosfeld (HR; 2-R) led the 10-hit Smithson Valley offense. 
   
Nederlands Justin Walker struck out seven and allowed three hits in a big 3-2 district win over Port Neches-Groves. Brock LeMire plated Austin Gaspard in the seventh for the go ahead run.

Brandon Castolenia gave up only three hits in a 4-2 Beaumont Westbrook win over Kingwood. Mark Serna pitched the last two innings to earn the save. Matt Cavert had 2-RBI and James Ewing had a solo HR to lead the Bruins.

Lumbertons Logan Pace struck out nine to lead his team past Beaumont Central. Pace also had a 2-run HR to help his cause. Kyle Kimball had a HR while Cory Davis, Zack Bollinger, and Hunter Bitttle each had two hits for the Raiders.

Clay Bourgeois had 2-2B and a RBI while going 3-4 in a 7-3 Orangefield win over Hardin-Jefferson. 

Ryan Robertson had 2-RBI with 2-H in leading West Orange-Stark by Hamshire-Fannett 5-4. Brad Becker and Jason Ayers both added an RBI for the Mustangs.

Ramsey Gonzales (3-4), Jacob Perales (2-2), and Nathan Castaneda (2-3) led the offense in a 15-1 Corpus Christi Moody over Victoria Memorial. Jason Rodriguez got the win. Luis Flores allowed only two hits in a 5-1 win over Carroll. This was the first earned that Flores has allowed this season.

Lamars Felix Fanasella had a two-run HR in a 7-6 win over Bellaire. 

Chase Phillips tossed a one-hit shutout in 10-0 Monterey victory over Lubbock High. Phillips was hit by a come-backer in the first but remained in the game to earn the win.

Thomas Keeling threw a two-hit shout out in a Lubbock Coronado win over Tascosa.

Alex Watkins allowed only one hit and had two big hits (a double and triple) to lead Big Spring over Estacado 17-0.

Danbury had 23 hits in 21-12 victory over Faith West Academy. The Panthers were led Wally Kelm (4-6; 4-RBI) and Bradley Bulanek (4-5; 4-RBI). Bulanek, Paul Wendel and Randy Smith all homered in the seventh. Randy Smith won his seventh game of the season as the Panthers defeated Wallis Brazos 10-1. Smith struck out 14 in the win. Danbury has outscored their first five district opponents 69-4 while batting .386 as a team. 

Alpine defeated Ft. Hancock 15-5 in non-district action. Aaron Hearon (4-4; 4-R; 4-RBI;1-2B; 2-3B), Abel Losoya (3-4; 3-R; 3-RBI; 1-3B), Jason Miller (2-3), and Merced Muniz (2-3) led the offensive attack.

Jonathan Thompson (4-9; 1-2B; 1-3B; 3-SB), Colton LaRue (5-7; 6-RBI), Richard Gunnels (3-4; 6-RBI; 4-BB), and Jacob Howard (4-7; 3-RBI; 2-SB) led Lovelady this week to wins over Douglass, 10-2, and North Zulch, 17-1.  

Junior Will Currier got the win in a 7-2 Dripping Springs victory over Marble Falls. Stephen Szkotak earned the save. Currier helped his cause with a 2-run HR.
Trey Mick tossed a one-hitter and struck out eight in a disappointing 2-0 loss to Burnet. Nick Isbell had a 2-run HR in a 9-inning 7-6 loss to NB Canyon. Currier threw six strong innings before leaving the game with scored tied. Wes Jackson had an inside-the-park HR to break open a 1-1 tie in a Tiger win over New Braunfels. Daryl Lehman hit a solo HR while senior Szotak tossed a complete game striking out 7 and spreading out five hits.

Shane Minks pitched a complete game striking out 12 and allowing only one hit in a 3-1 Columbia win over Sweeny. Minks also led the offense going 2-2 with an RBI. Jacob Howard (5-5; 3-RBI), Brantley Ward ((2-4), and Tim Vernor (3-3) led the way in a 9-1 Columbia win over Palacios. Ward got the win throwing four innings and striking out four.

Thorndale defeated Bartlett 16-3 behind the hitting of Miles Grisham (2-3; 3-RBI; 3-R), Ryan Lindemann (2-2; 1-RBI), and Jeffrey Kiesling (2-4; 2-RBI; 3-R). Lindemann picked with the win to improve to 3-1 on the year. Wade Gilchrist Struck out 11 in 5-1 Bulldog win over Thrall. Chris Gerren led a 2-out 4-R rally in the seventh to break open a 1-1 tie with an RBI single. This was after Kiesling had tied the game with a HR in the sixth.

Jeremy Barnes, Scott Hancock, Tyler English, Andrew Denson, and Seth Plumlee led the South Garland offense in a win over North Garland. Jeffery Knapp earned the win to improve to 3-0 on the season. The Colonels improved to 20-0 on the season.

Russell Moldenhauer hit 2-HR in Boerne wins this week over Alamo Heights and Medina Valley. Moldenhauer also tossed a 2-hit complete game against Medina Valley striking out 12.

Junction defeated Ozona 12-1 behind the hitting of sophomores Brian Gonzales (4-5; 3-2B; 1-RBI; 1-SB) and Kyle Konz (2-3; 1-2B; 5-RBI). Junior Weston Neiman tossed the complete game two-hitter striking out 11.

Riley Boening pitched 5-inning no-hitter in a 13-0 Yoakum win over Luling. Boening struck out 15 batters and faced only 16 hitters. He hit one batter.
